When you use ResuBoost, you may provide us with:

• Account information: Email address (used for authentication via magic link)
• Resume content: Name, contact information, work history, education, skills, certifications, and any other information you include in your resume
• Cover letter content: Information you provide for cover letter generation, including answers to interview questions
• Job descriptions: Job postings you paste to tailor your resume or cover letter
• Writing samples: Optional text samples you provide for writing style analysis
• Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use our service, we may automatically collect:

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, and actions taken within the application
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution
• Log data: IP address, access times, and referring website addresses

We use this information to improve our service, fix bugs, and understand how users interact with ResuBoost.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide our services: Generate optimized resume content, create cover letters, calculate ATS scores, and export documents
• Process with AI: Send your resume data and job descriptions to AI services (Anthropic/Claude) to generate optimized content. See "AI Processing" section below for details.
• Authenticate your account: Send magic link emails for secure, passwordless login
• Process payments: Handle subscription billing through our payment processor
• Improve our service: Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs and build better features
• Communicate with you: Send service-related emails (account verification, subscription updates, important notices)

What We Do NOT Do

• We do not sell your personal information to third parties
• We do not use your resume data for advertising purposes
• We do not share your resume with employers without your explicit consent
• We do not train AI models on your personal data

AI Processing

ResuBoost uses artificial intelligence (specifically, Anthropic's Claude) to analyze your resume and generate optimized content. Here's what you should know:

• What is sent to AI: Your resume content, job descriptions you provide, and your answers to interview questions
• Purpose: To generate optimized bullet points, professional summaries, cover letters, and ATS analysis
• Data retention by AI provider: According to Anthropic's policies, API inputs are not used to train their models and are retained only temporarily for abuse monitoring. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.
• No permanent AI storage: We do not store AI-generated content separately from your user account. When you delete your account, all generated content is deleted.

Data Storage and Security

Where We Store Your Data

Your data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase, with servers located in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest.

Security Measures

We implement appropriate security measures including:

• Encryption of data in transit and at rest
• Secure authentication via magic links (no passwords to steal)
• Access controls limiting who can access user data
• Regular security reviews of our infrastructure

Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

• Account data: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Resume and cover letter content: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Usage logs: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging and service improvement
• Payment records: Retained as required by law for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years)

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access your data: View all personal information we have about you through your account dashboard
• Export your data: Download your resumes and cover letters in PDF or DOCX format
• Correct your data: Edit any information in your account at any time
• Delete your data: Delete individual documents or your entire account. Account deletion removes all your data within 30 days.
• Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails (we'll still send essential service emails)

For California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
